Hiding something from Keth isn't the simplest task, as her mind is always running a mile a minute. Their relationship is pretty much open and they speak about everything. So planning this proposal and trying to be descrete wasn't like taking candy from a baby. Then the day finally arrived!

Keth was having a bad day at work, which didn't make it any easier for me to confirm all that would make this night one to remember. (You know Keth was texting me venting all day). Worrying about everything; from timing, to who would be there and with Keth getting easily aggravated, time was of the essence. Yet nothing would divert my main focus of that day, May 14, 2014.

As soon as Keth made it home, she contacted me, letting me know she was home. I told her to follow my instructions which were to pack her bag of her essentials and make her way over. Keth was confused and lost but she knew they weren't going away because of work. When she arrived, I started to get ready for work and of course as usual Keth fell asleep. While she counted bun nun (plaintains) in her sleep, I started setting up the scavenger hunt. First placing a letter with directions, a glass of wine, dark chocolate and a rose petal on the coffee table. Then a hidden gift bag with a card, an outfit to wear and the first of a dozen roses she would receive that night in the cabinet. I then woke her up telling her to shower and get ready while I went to DJ. After 20 mins, she finally woke up allowing me to walk her into the living room to the couch and sat her down, giving her a kiss saying, "Happy Anniversary Babe, read this and follow the instructions. I'll be back; if you have any questions or you're confused, just text me." As she sat there on the couch; Keth then read the note, it mentioned for her to get dolled up and that her outfit has a slit on the back. That was a clue to the second part of the scavenger hunt. The slit on the back was also a clue to look behind her. Which is what she did but she didn't see anything. Pausing for a moment, she then opened the cabinet and there was the 2nd part of the scavenger hunt; a black gift bag with another rose in it. She looked in the bag and there was an all black 2 piece outfit my cousin Regine made for her to wear. So she went and got all dolled up and waited for my arrival.

After djing, I rushed home to change into my grey pants and red button up and then escorted Keth to her suprise at the Brooklyn Promenade. We finally headed on out. On the way to the Brooklyn Promenade,  I said to Keth,  "You can ask me one question about tonite" and of course she wasted the question by asking, "Where are we going?" Instead, I informed her that we were going to take pictures as she always asked and would head to dinner shortly after.

When we finally arrived on the promenade, Keth quickly asked, "How far are we walking?" I replied saying, "To the end." This gave me time to let everyone know that the time was near and have ample time to begin speaking to Keth about our relationship.  When we reached the end of the promenade,  I pointed to a bench where I wanted to sit and waited for Daniel, the photographer. However, this was actually the bench directly in the view of our family and friends. I then made "the call" while waiting and enjoying the view and began confessing my love to Keth. While gently speaking to her, the procession of our family and friends began walking from street level down to the promenade, making a semi circle arch at a distance. Keth asked me, "What is this?" Then my cousin, Sandy walked over and began playing a song, one with a deep meaning, which was (Jason Derulo- Will You Marry Me). One by one, members of our families would walk over expressing their emotions and giving Keth what would complete the bouquet of a dozen roses. When Keth had received all the roses; I gracefully stood up, turned to look into the eyes of the love of my life, told her to look at our familes which held letters that formed the question, "Will You Marry Me?" and then got down on one knee. I then continued what I was saying prior to the procession and concluding with "Will You Marry Me Babe?" As the song played in the background; Keth then responded, "Ye Ye YES!!" As she wept unforgetable tears of happiness and excitement. The crowd then screamed and chanted, "She said yes, SHE SAID YES! " Then Champagne was popped, speeches were made and love was in the air. What a magical night of beauty and definitely a dream come true. For the both of us!
